If you are a make up aficionado, one of the most basic things that one must do is to put on foundation. It helps in providing an even coverage and flawless appearance on your skin. However, if we use too much of this product, we will become candidates of what is commonly known as the Cakey Foundation Syndrome.
Here are some tips to help you know the ways on how to prevent cakey foundation:
1. Start with a clean and polished face.
A clean and polished face will help your foundation glide on your skin. If you have dry and flaky skin, there will be a tendency for the foundation to adhere in such a weird way. It’s recommended that one must exfoliate the skin at least once a week in order to get rid of dead skin cells. A good skin care routine and a moisturized face will definitely work wonders for your make up.
2. Allow Your Moisturizer To Dry
Don’t put on your foundation right after you’ve applied your moisturizer. This is most especially true if you are using powder foundation. Patting the powder on a slightly wet surface will create a thick layer on your skin.
3. Apply Face Primer
You can skip this step if you want to, but a face primer will help keep your make up in place. This will also prolong the life of your foundation so that you won’t have to touch up every now and then. Frequent touch ups will make your face look so cakey.
4. Apply Your Foundation Thinly
One of the functions of a foundation is to help make your face look even. A concealer is used to cover your problem areas. Use a foundation that is perfect for your skin type and skin tone. Apply the product on certain parts of your face and then blend it out. Don’t forget the neck area. This will help prevent that unsightly mask-like appearance. Wait for it to get absorbed into the skin.
5. Set it With Powder
Setting your foundation can help keep it in place. Use a powder that has a similar color. Using a kabuki brush will help distribute the powder evenly across your face. Remember to just dab it on the powder and then shake off the excess. If you don’t have any brush, you can use a sponge and then blot it gently. During the day, if you find the need to touch up, use a blotting paper first to absorb excess oil before touching up.
These tips will hopefully be able to help prevent cakey foundation. You can continue on with the rest of your makeup and you will see that your make up will have a fresh, clear, and natural-looking porcelain appearance. 😉
